Quality Family Law Representation “Because It Matters”

Common reasons women file for divorce

Women in Kentucky may divorce their husbands because of issues such as infidelity, abuse of alcohol or drugs, or domestic abuse. Many marriages also end because of financial issues.

The reason for divorce in many cases may come down to problems with communication. Women may file for divorce if they feel that their husbands are indifferent to their feelings or they feel taken for granted. In some cases, they might try to communicate with their husbands about this. Some men may stop listening to their wives or making an effort in other ways, and women could end up turning to friends and others to have these needs met. However, in other cases, women may not clearly express needs and wants, such as the desire for more romance in the marriage.

In general, women are more likely to file for divorce than men are. A survey conducted by found that women initiate 80% of divorces. Another study conducted by a researcher at the Institute of Social Research at the University of Michigan spent 16 years monitoring marital tension in 355 couples. She found that tension led to women filing for a divorce twice as often as men. The American Sociological Association found that two-thirds of all divorces and 90% of those involving college-educated women were initiated by the wife.

Even though women may be more likely to file for divorce, they are generally also more likely to suffer financially in a divorce than men. For this reason, women may want to talk to their attorneys about how they can protect their financial interests.. This may include ensuring that they fully understand the household finances and what portion of the marital assets they may be entitled to. If they earn less than their husband, they might receive support payments.
